Ayatollah Abbas Vaez Tabasi (Persian: آيت الله عباس واعظ طبسی) is an influential member of the Expediency Discernment Council and the Assembly of Experts of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Furthermore, Vaez-Tabasi is the head of the Astan Quds Razavi Foundation. The foundation runs "auto plants, agricultural businesses, and many other enterprises, and it is worth an estimated $15 billion."[1] This gives him the nickname of Sultan of Khorasan,[2] and his son Naser the Heir to the throne of Khorasan in Iran.[3]
In 2006 he was elected to the Assembly of Experts[4] to the surprise of some observers.[5]
